Spring 2016 Anime reactions (Monday)

First of all spoiler warnings as i will talk about the anime of spring 2016. If you want to know what I look for and my preferences in shows then look at this post about how I grade shows. Anyways how I will do this is go through the 24 shows I am watching (4 of them being shorts) by what day they come out for streaming. So I will start on Monday and end on Sunday. At the end I will give a 1-20 rank of each show and 1-4 for the shorts. SO lets get this started with Monday!

Monday (3 shows: 2 shorts, 1 regular)

Bakuon!!-The Crazy World of High School Girls Riding Bikes
Synopsis: Sakura Hane is an airhead that is now attending an all-girls school. As she is biking her way to school, she see another girl, Onsa Amano, riding her motorcycle to the same school. Hane then becomes interested in riding motorcycle and sets to get her license while joining Onsa in the motorcycle club at the school where she meets other motorcycle enthusiasts.

Remember... possible spoilers for everything so here is your last warning

After the first episode, I wasn't sure if I liked this show or not. It seemed kind of boring to me and the character designs were a little off to me. But my friend told me he was reading the manga and that it was good so I stuck with it for a few more episodes... and I am glad I did. This show is not as plain and the story makes it seem. It is more wacky than meets the eye.

Strengths: The cast of characters are fun and I absolutely love Rin (the yellow haired twintail girl). She is such a pure-hearted dork and her stories that she has with her father are hilarious. What makes this show great is the over the top humor and dramatic scenes that are just ridiculous. From trying to make 30 feet jumps into a river, to children being thrown off hundreds of feet into the air, to over dramatic scenes where you think someone died but they didn't, the show just thrives on the craziness of its characters and moments that are fun to see. The show actually is pretty informative when it comes to motorcycles as well, so you actually learn a thing or two about motorcycles.

Negatives: Now I will say, although there isn't too much fan service, it can get kind of out of hand (especially episode 5 and the bike washing scene). And not that it is a huge problem, but some of the motorcycle talk goes over my head. Again it is nice to learn stuff but sometimes I do not understand what they are talking about and thus I become a little lost and uninterested in the show.

Grade/summary: B (Overall, Bakuon!! is a wild and crazy show with over the top humor and likable characters. The motorcycle talk may go over most people's heads and the fan service may be too much at times but hey, I never thought I would see an anime with JFK and Jesus on a motorcycle. If anything, the randomness makes this show worth watching).

Usakame (short)-The Teekyuu Replacement that Does Not Fill the Void

Synopsis: Ayako Suzuki and the tennis club practice for an upcoming tournament but randomness ensues as they try and practice.

Strengths: I like the art and animation. Some of the moments are funny and the characters are cute.

Negatives: Since I compare it to Teekyuu, it is just not as good. It has a slower pace and it is just not random enough.

Grade/Summary: C- (Some funny moments but I want my Teekyuu back :'(...)

Wagamama High Spec (short)-Cute Girls doing Cute shit
Synopsis: The four girls are a part of the student council and they do yuri things and whatever

Strengths: It is cute and there are some moments that are fun and silly

Negative: The first episode was such fan service bait, damn it was just ridiculous, and half the time the show is boring and there is nothing happen in this show.

Grade/Summary: D+ (Some funny moments and cute but it is very forgettable show).

Okay there is Monday... See you next post for Tuesday and Wednesday shows!
